Judge Russell Hartigan brings his judicial experience combined with his extensive experience litigating civil matters to this CLE program. Judge Hartigan spent his judicial career in the Circuit Court of Cook County’s First and Fifth municipal districts. He was assigned to civil jury call, trying and settling civil jury and non-jury civil cases. Before joining the bench, Judge Hartigan’s private practice focused on civil trial work including casualty and municipal defense, workers’ compensation, personal injury and arbitration/mediation. Judge Hartigan returned to private practice after leaving the bench in 2017.
During his judicial tenure, Judge Hartigan was known as a highly effective pre-trial mediator, helping lawyers and their clients resolve pending litigation through the mediation process. He was rated "Highly Recommended” by the Chicago Bar Association and the Illinois State Bar Association for Circuit and Appellate Courts.
